Good night for French clubs

Men’s ETTU Cup

All the favorites in Men’s ETTU Cup took a full advantage of their high seeding positions and home matches. In Sweden and France hosts Halmstad BTK Stella Sport La Romagne and Istres Tennis de Table with more or less efforts prevailed in the third round of the competition.

Halmstad BTK faced the toughest challenge in the knock out match against Czech Republic’s SF SKK El Nino Praha. They were stretched to full distance after being forced to nullify two matches to one deficit.

Ondrej BAJGER gave El Nino dream start by beating Fabian AKERSTROM whilst David REITSPIES gave guests second point after duel against Anders ERIKSSON. However it was not enough; Peter ANDERSSON beat both Jakub KLEPRLIK and Ondrej BAJGER in the decisive match. Elias RANEFUR entered the arena in the fourth match of the proceedings to bring the vital win for hosts.

Another five matches has been seen in Istres. Hosts prevailed thanks to team effort. All three players CHEN Tianyuan Adrian CRISAN and Brice OLLIVER won one match whilst on the other side of the net Carlos MACHADO recorded both his victories.

Istres Tennis de Table proved too strong for Croatia’s STK Starr Varaždin. Only Ronald REDJEP managed to bring some suspense in the duel against Omar ASSAR; Benjamin BROSSIER and Paul GAUZY showed no mercy.
