Ochsenhausen and Eslovs booked their places for the TTCLM quarter-finals

Round 6 of Table Tennis Champions League Men

TTF LIEBHERR OCHSENHAUSEN and ESLOVS AI BORDTENNIS booked their places for the 2016/17 Table Tennis Champions League Men quarter-finals concluding the list of eight participants after Round 6. Other six are: TTC FAKEL GAZPROM ORENBURG AS PONTOISE CERGY FC SAARBRUCKEN TISCHTENNIS BOGORIA GRODZISK MAZOWIECKI BORUSSIA DUSSELDORF and CHARTRES ASTT.

Two TTCLM runner-ups (Ochsenhausen was finalist in 2009 Eslovs is current one) have defeated in the ultimate round ANGERS SPORTS VAILLANTE and UMMC respectively. German club needed just five sets after 3:0 (9:4) away win against Angers in the Round 3 but they won again in straight matches losing just two sets this time. Concerning the game in Sweden both Eslovs and UMMC have hunted a victory in the concluding round. Russian club found itself in a very bad position even before the match due to absence of Andrej GACINA and Grigory VLASOV hence the 3:1 victory in favor of actual TTCLM runner-up was expected.

However UMMC had successful opener as Alexander SHIBAEV beat XU Hui in straight games. It was just second defeat of Chinese so far in the ongoing season (his individual score is 10-2). SHIBAEV won the first set (14:12) after amazing rally at the end. In the second set Russian converted big early advantage (7:1) into the 2:0 lead. SHIBAEV was better in the open shots and his tactic was to push XU far from the table. In the third guest turned from 7:8 to 9:8 concluding the clash with two impressive backhands.

Next three matches belonged to Eslov`s player. Daniel KOSIBA didn’t have to play against Zoran PRIMORAC (3:0 w. o.) while both Robert SVENSSON and XU Hui overcame Ilya ZHIDKOV in their matches.

Borussia Dusseldorf and Chartres ASTT confirmed their supremacy in the Group D winning Round 6 matches 3:0. German club (without Timo BOLL) was a guest of KST ENERGA-MANEKIN TORUN while the 2013 TTCLM runner-up hosted SPG WALTER WELS.

ROSKILDE BORDTENNIS BTK61 recorded its very first victory in Group A against TTC FAKEL GAZPROM ORENBURG whose leading trio MIZUTANI OVTCHAROV SAMSONOV was not present.

Reigning TTCLM champion AS PONTOISE CERGY (Marcos FREITAS was absent) confirmed the top spot of Group B as they beat KS UNIA AZS AWFiS GDANSK 3:1
