HU Melek of Turkey and SHEN Yanfei of Spain Favorites stumbled in the semi final of the Women’s Doubles Event

World bronze medalists and no. two seeds departed the Expo hall defeated

 

In the final of the Women’s Doubles Event at the 2015 LIEBHERR ITTF European Championships Georgina POTA of Hungary and Elizabeta SAMARA of Romania will play against HU Melek of Turkey and SHEN Yanfei of Spain.

 

On their way to the ultimate stage of the Doubles Event POTA and SAMARA beat no one other but bronze medalists from the World Championships held this year in China LI Jie of Netherlands and LI Qian of Poland 4:2 (13:11 11:6 9:11 3:11 11:7 12:10).

 

“I did not realize they were bronze medalists. I was injured at that time. I could not play at the World Championships ” admitted POTA.

 

Asked what is the key for their success SAMARA answered:

 

“I am good in service game and POTA has good smash. We are both fighters.”

 

SAMARA already won the gold medal in Doubles. In Herning she played with Daniela DODEAN.

 

HU Melek and SHEN Yanfei overcame HAN Ying and Irene IVANCAN of Germany no two seeds – 4:1 (16:14 11:5 13:11 9:11 14:12).

 

Famous of her partnership with GAO Jun SHEN earned the nick -name Killer but now she pass that nick name to younger partner. Now SHEN became the architect of the game.

 

“Now HU is the Killer ” said SHEN.

 

“SHEN helped me a lot to improve my game. She talks with me after each point explains me what to do ” added HU.
