Prime Minister PONTA held the reception for SAMARA and RTTF officials

SAMARA and RTTF received the recognition for major achievement from the highest State authorities

 

There are positive and official benefits for Romanian Table Tennis Federation arising from the Elizabeta SAMARA’S great success at the 2015 LEBHERR ITTF European Championships held two weeks ago in Ekaterinburg. At the official reception held yesterday SAMARA with the coach and RTTF officials received the recognition for her major achievement from the highest state authorities from the Romania Prime Minister Victor PONTA and the Minister of Sport Gabriela SZABO.

 

At the special reception in Bucharest Prime Minister Victor PONTA’s guests were the newly crowned champion Elizabeta SAMARA with Women team coach Viorel FILIMON European junior champion Adina DIACONU and the member of Romanian team whose won the silver medal in Russia Cristina HIRICI. They were accompanied by the high table tennis officials: RTTF President Cristinel ROMANESCU RTTF Marketing Manager Beatrice ROMANESCU RTTF Accounting Manager Luminita PUIU and RTTF General Secretary Radu VOINEA.

 

“Congratulation for the extraordinary result at the European Championships. We are very proud for the achievement of our athletes and complete organization that stands behind this great success. It gives us the big aspirations before the Olympic Games in Rio 2106. Now we can hope for medal although I know how hard it will be ” stated Romania Prime Minister Victor PONTA.

 

Prime Minister also promised he will help RTTF build the table tennis hall in Bucharest.

 

Romania the country with immense traditions in the sport of table tennis especially women table tennis waited for long for the medal in the singles event at the European Championships. Legendary Olympian now Minister SZABO reminded all about it.

 

“We waited for 12 years after Otilia BADESCU won her last medal in singles at the European Championships. How much this victory SAMARA achieved was great I can best describe by numerous phone calls I received only seconds after the end of the match. Everybody was delighted. She made us all proud. Also I have to than our Government for the great support for our sport and activities ” said SZABO.

 

SAMARA was also delighted.

 

“It is great honor for me. I am so nervous and so happy…I just can not find the words ” said SAMARA.

 

RTTF President Cristinel ROMANESCU thanked for great support from the Government.

 

“We want to stay on this track. Those results justified our course. We invested a lot in our youth; in our development program and it proved as the only way to success. Eliza showed the strength of our school of table tennis. We have excellent coaches and experts as well as endless will to support our players ” said ROMANESCU.
