Alina NIKITCHANKA beat the odds in Buzau

Belarus player beat Adina DIACONU

The top seed in the Junior Girls Singles Event Adina DIACONU recovered from yesterday’s defeats to record victories on the second day of the play at the ROMSTAL European Youth Top 10 in Buzau but at the end of the day she struggled again against Belarus Alina NIKITCHANKA.

Today Adina overcame Russia’s Daria CHERNOVA in straight games before she faced great challenge from Daria TRIGOLOS of Belarus. Seeded no. one Adina won the first three games before she withstood a spirited comeback from Daria to record seven games victory.

The fifth round brought the end of the clean record for Natalia BAJOR of Poland. She lost first match at the tournament against NIKITCHANKA.

“Three opening games I won without any problems. I “smashed” every ball that came from her. Then suddenly everything changed. I was not able to find the answer to her game. Coach told me to play more defensive I was not happy with that but I won eventually ” admitted NIKITCHANKA.

Day earlier Alina beat MALANINA and LUNG but most impressive win was the one against the top seeded Adina DIACONU in the sixth round.

“I overcame MALANINA at the European Championships so it was not the problem for me. I had much more difficulties against Lisa. She has very dangerous service I could not find the answer to that.”

We witnessed brave effort from Belgium’s Lisa LUNG in the fourth round of the Event. A lot of stress due the heavy 3:4 defeats in previous day little bit of heat in the hall…all that might be the cause for nose bleeding that interrupted her match against Russia’s Maria MALANINA. The referee wanted to stop the match but Lisa refused so she continued; she played fast and risky in order to finish the match as quick as possible just to stay in the arena until the regular end.

“I played so many matches for a national team but I have to praise her fighting spirit and will to play for the national jersey. I am really proud of the way she is represent our sport ” said coach Marc CLOSSET.

In the next round Lisa overcame another favorite Alena LEMMER of Germany.
