Balkan Youth Championships started today in Serbia’s town of Kikinda. Whole region, 9 countries send their representatives for four days competition. In Group B Serbia’s Ivor KATIC, Valentine NADJNEMEDI and Nikola STRUGAREVIC upset the favorites and overcame Turkey to secure top position. Sara SUTCLIFFE said: “I am delighted to be joining the ETTA at such an exciting time. I look forward to working with the new chairman and his team, the board and all the staff at the ETTA to help lead the organisation through a period of sustained and continuous improvement so that we can grow the number of people enjoying table tennis at every level. “ She will be a great asset to the ETTA and will work with the new board, staff and volunteers on the implementation of the recently completed Strategic and Staffing review to meet the Sport England requirement of new Budgets and Costed Delivery Plans for 2014 to 2017. The current chairman of the ETTA, Alex MURDOCH said: “During the selection and interview process involving incoming chairman Andy SEWARD, Sport England and myself, Sara was the outstanding candidate and I wish her and table tennis every success now and in the future under the new board.”

Dr. Petra BOHUSLAV, member of the Lower Austrian government spoke to the media representatives: “Table Tennis is a fascinating sport for young and old. We are very happy in lower Austria to have Werner SCHLAGER, who fascinates and motivates all of us. We need personalities like Werner SCHLAGER to bring top events to Austria. With 1.000 participants, including referees and officials, and more than 20.000 guests, this European Championship brings a huge benefit for our region. That is one of the reasons why the SPORT LAND Niederösterreich supports this event.“ Hannes FAZEKAS, mayor of Schwechat said he is looking forward to welcome the guests. “European Championships are a good chance for Schwechat to become more popular. Of course it is also a big challenge for us.
