KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki kick off with the win
KS Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki kicked off the Champions League Men’s 2023/2024 season by facing the Czech champions. In the opening match of Round two the team coached by Tomasz REDZIMSKI triumphed over HB Ostrov z.s. with a score of 3-1. The duel began with a tightly contested match between Milosz REDZIMSKI and David REITSPIES. The Czech representative narrowly won the first two opening games before REDZIMSKI mounted a comeback to secure the overall victory. Both REDZIMSKI and the Panagiotis GIONIS defeated Pavel SIRUCEK while Takuya JIN lost to Tomas TREGLER. “We anticipate a tough match because our opponent is very strong and doesn’t give up easily. We’re in a challenging group so we can’t afford to make any easy mistakes. It will be quite a challenge to secure the top spot in the group but our primary goal is to advance in the Europe Cup. We managed to create a slight advantage in the first leg and now we’re also aiming for an upset in the match against Ulm ” said GIONIS. “At the beginning REDZIMSKI was under pressure and found himself trailing 0-2. However when he made a comeback and secured the win it boosted our confidence. My match against SIRUCEK wasn’t easy because we had played together in the same club for some time and faced each other numerous times. I knew I had to stay focused. While he may not excel in a defensive style I had to perform at my best to beat him. I won the second game with a bit of luck but overall I’m very satisfied with my performance and winning in straight games. I controlled the game very well.” “JIN entered the match after a two-hour break without a warm-up as we didn’t have a break and it showed in his gameplay. He was out of rhythm. However Milosz played exceptionally well. He delivered one of his best performances and didn’t give SIRUCEK a chance.” In the previous season Bogoria was also placed in the same group as HB Ostrov. In the Grodzisk hall the Czech team won 3:2 but the Polish side managed to secure a 3:1 victory in the away game. In addition to these two teams the German powerhouse TTC Neu Ulm is part of Group C in the Champions League. Only the group stage winner will earn a spot in the Final Four tournament. The second-placed team will participate in the European Cup from the quarter-finals. KS DARTOM BOGORIA Grodzisk Mazowiecki – HB Ostrov z.s. 3-1 Milosz REDZIMSKI – David REITSPIES 3-2 (9-11 9-11 11-5 11-5 6-3) Panagiotis GIONIS – Pavel SIRUCEK 3-0 (11-6 11-9 11-8) Takuya JIN – Tomas TREGLER 1-3 (7-11 11-7 7-11 8-11) Milosz REDZIMSKI – Pavel SIRUCEK 3-0 (11-4 11-4 11-7) Â

Swiss Under 13 Team Concludes First Stage at the Top of the Standings
The first stage of the team events at the Europe Youth Series 2023 Czech Open in Plzen has concluded. The teams placed in the first and second positions in their respective groups will play the final match tomorrow for the title. In the Under 13 Girls’ Event Switzerland’s first team composed of Akhyata PATRA and Ilvi ULRICH won the opening stage. They recorded seven wins with five of them in straight matches. The Swiss team will face Czechia 1 represented by Adela BRHELOVA and Laura MARSICKOVA who lost only one match. Germany’s second team composed of Linyun WEI and Rouqi WEI finished in third place. Swiss girls’ team coach Pedro PELZ provided an overview of his team’s performance in the opening days of the tournament. “Back in Serbia at the Youth Series tournament in Dimitrovgrad we reached the team’s final with Akhyata PATRA who won all her singles matches. It was only in the final that she lost one against FAZEKAS. She played with Enya HU at that time. Now Akhyata is playing with Ilvi ULRICH and Enya HU (2013) is partnered with Michelle WU (2013). The level is slightly higher than in Serbia I would say due to the presence of teams from Germany and the Czech Republic in the competition. Akhyata and Ilvi consistently displayed a high level in their singles matches with a 12:2 record and they won all their doubles matches. It was crucial to secure victories in those two matches ” reported coach PELZ. “So it’s a significant goal to know that you have an excellent chance to win the doubles if necessary.” Speaking about their opponents PELZ noted that the hosts presented a significant challenge to PATRA and ULRICH the very same team they will meet in the final. “The toughest match was against Czechia 1. The result was 3:0 but every single match was challenging to win. So we’ll see how it goes in the final tomorrow. There they’ll need to secure three points and you never know which player you’ll face first. I believe we have a very good chance to win this team tournament if both our players prepare well for the final and play tactically. Of course they’ll have to fight for every ball.” At the Under 13 European Championships in June Akhyata and Ilvi won almost all their matches in the team competition which is why we finished in 10th place. “Switzerland’s younger girls’ team with Enya and Michelle is also performing well. Both of them have a 4:3 record in their singles matches which is very impressive. I believe they both have the potential to reach a top level in Europe in the U15 category.” Coach PELZ praised the organizers in Plzen. “The tournament is very well organized. The playing conditions for the players in the main and practice hall are excellent. Additionally the food accommodations and the transportation from the hotel to the hall are well-organized. There’s really nothing to complain about.”
