He secured victories in both his matches against Khalid ASSAR and Jakub KLEPRLIK while Piotr CYRNEK triumphed over Adam KLAJBER. Bartosz MAJCHER the coach of Global Pharma Orlicz Suchedniow expressed his satisfaction stating “I am very happy with the result because we played an excellent match. The 3-1 win is an important step to the next round but we know we have one more game to play against a tough adversary. I believed that PARK Joengwoo would secure two points; he is the leader of our team. And Piotr CYRNEK’s win is not a surprise for me either. He plays very well in the Polish league with an unpleasant style that can surprise opponents. ETIVAL ASRTT secured points in Austria
ETIVAL ASRTT emerged successfully in the second match of the Champions League Women against LINZ AG Froschberg in Austria. The French club secured a straight match victory. Still recovering from an injury Sofia POLCANOVA fought hard against Marie MIGOT but lost in a closely contested match. “Sofia is struggling to come back after a serious injury and I admire her courage. I hope she will make a full recovery soon ” said MIGOT. Hana MATELOVA was absent from the French team but ETIVAL managed to secure a very important win. “We didn’t expect a 3-0 victory against such a strong team. We beat them once two years ago with a 3-1 score but winning 3-0 now and doing it without Hana is a big surprise even for us ” said MIGOT. “Even now I can’t say how I beat POLCANOVA in the opening match. I was lucky to have the service at 5-5 in the decisive game. I used it but it was a very close and nervous game.” MIGOT also had some internal struggles. “Last week I lost to Singapore’s ZHENG Jian 9-11 in the last game and I think my mindset was absolutely wrong. I thought I wasn’t good enough to beat her. Now again that little voice came to me to warn me that Sofia is better but I gave my best to overcome it. I was fighting against that voice.” With a 1-0 lead ETIVAL paved the path to success. Next in line to create an upset was SHAO Jieni. “She had a very tough adversary very aggressive… SHAO was simply better tonight. Camelia played superbly against NOSKOVA so I can only say that we showed amazing teamwork. However this is only the beginning this is our first match and there is a long way to go.” In their next match LINZ AG Froschberg will play against GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL in France on November 21st. In their first match the French club recorded a 3-2 win. LINZ AG Froschberg – ETIVAL ASRTT 0-3 Sofia POLCANOVA – Marie MIGOT 2-3 (6-11 11-8 9-11 12-10 5-6) Suthasini SAWETTABUT – SHAO Jieni 0-3 (10-12 5-11 3-11) Yana NOSKOVA – Camelia IACOB 0-3 (8-11 8-11 4-11)
Felix LEBRUN won another thrilling match
Young French player Felix LEBRUN reached the semifinals of the WTT Champions Frankfurt 2023. The 17-year-old penhold player overcame Korea’s LEE Sang Su with a 3-2 victory (8 -11 -6 12 8). LEBRUN saved a match point in the fourth game. He was down 11-12 before making a comeback to win the match. “This match was incredible. I’m so happy to win it because it was very challenging. I tried to focus on the match and stick to my tactics. I thought the ball hit his jersey but I will watch the video to confirm if I was right. I stopped playing at that moment which wasn’t the right thing to do. I think I’ve been in a flow for two weeks playing very well and I also performed excellently here in Frankfurt. It’s nice to play in this area. The French fans sang a song for me just like they did for Alexis at the European Championships and now for me. I’m thrilled about that ” said LEBRUN. In the next round he will face China’s MA Long. MA defeated Dimitrij OVTCHAROV of Germany in the quarterfinals (-7 -7 -7). “Half of the rallies were at a very high level from both of us. That was top-level table tennis. I was absolutely at my limit and played extremely well. I just couldn’t maintain that level throughout the entire match. I allowed myself one or two easy mistakes somewhere. He didn’t make a single mistake throughout the whole match. I can’t remember him ever playing so well. He was very present. I always sensed that he was very hungry for every ball and was constantly motivating himself. You could really tell how important this match was to him. In the past he used to dominate me in my serve and return game so I never found my way into the match. Now I have the feeling that we’re always in the match but he’s faster and fitter. I have to work hard on that. It was important to realize this as we head towards the Olympics ” said OVTCHAROV.
