LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF- European Table Tennis Championships In the thrilling final in 2017 Romania beat Germany to reach the throne at the European Teams Championships. In little more than a month they will have the opportunity to defend that title in the final stage of the LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF- European Table Tennis Championships in Nantes France (3- 8 September 2019). The system is changed and beside title holders Romania and host nation France 22 other teams were required to play two stages during two years period to book their place. In Nantes will also play: Germany Luxembourg Netherlands Croatia Sweden Belarus Stage Czech Republic Portugal Ukraine Poland Russia Turkey Spain Belgium Serbia Slovakia Greece Bulgaria and Slovenia. Romania is in the Group A with Spain and Slovakia. The member of the Romania’s champions team Elizabeta SAMARA followed the previous two stages. “There were no surprises; all the results are expected and all the best from Europe will be in France ” said Elizabeta who watched the draw live.” We will have very difficult job to retain our title but the atmosphere is good and we will be ready for the challenge. I think that biggest favorites beside us are Russia and Germany.” There are still enough time before the start of the Championships but so far we will most likely see in action silver medalist from individual European Championships in Alicante and vice champion in Doubles at the World Championships Oividu IONESCU alongside Hunor SZOCS Cristian PLETEA and Rares SIPOS. In Women’s team will be Europe’s no. one Bernadette SZOCS SAMARA Daniela DODEAN MONTEIRO. “There will be Adina DIACONU and Irina CIOBANY there too but the list is not finalised yet ” said SAMARA. After the European Games in Minsk SAMARA had a two weeks break and now she is back in working rhythm. “I had a short break then two days escape to Paris for my friend’s wedding and now I am in Romania. We are preparing for the ASAREL Bulgaria Open in Panagyurishte in mid- August and then we will finalise the preparations for the European Championships. Both teams will be in Constanta.” She stays with KTS Enea Siarka Tarnobrzeg. With Polish club she won title in the Women Champions League this year. “The team will stay the same but I think that this time will be much harder to play. The other teams are much stronger then the last year. However we have very strong line up and we will fight to defend our title ” promised SAMARA. Balkan Senior Championships The Table Tennis Association of Montenegro is the organiser of the Balkan Senior Championships in Podgorica (31 July – 04 August). The venue is Sport Hall “Verde”. The participing countries are Turkey Italy Slovenia Romania Serbia Bosnia and Herzegovina North Macedonia Montenegro Albania Greece and Kosovo. 37 men and 32 women are at the enteriees list. Last Senior Championhips was held in 2001 in Plovdiv. Since then BTTU organised only Under 21 events but now they returned to no age – limit event.

Rade Markovic appointed as Co-Managing Director of JOOLA
Following the acquisition of JOOLA Tischtennis GmbH. by Sport Squad Inc. Richard Lee President of the company has appointed Rade Markovic as new Co-Managing Director of JOOLA Tischtennis alongside the previous owner Michael Bachtler. Rade Markovic will be joining JOOLA as VP of Sales and Marketing. Previously a 15-year member of the Yugoslavian/Serbian National Team he has participated in many World Championships and European Championships. In addition to making it as a top 100 level world-class table tennis player Markovic has served as product manager for JOOLA Tischtennis GmbH for over 12 years. He has deep knowledge of the European market and has a huge network within the global table tennis community. “Since 1992 Rade has dedicated his career to table tennis through different roles giving him a broad perspective and overview of the sport ” said Richard Lee. “His institutional knowledge of JOOLA combined with his broad perspective of table tennis is invaluable and I am confident that we will continue to be an innovator in the industry because of what Rade brings to the table.” For the past three years Markovic has also served as the Head Coach for ASV Grunwettersbach and KITT Centre. The ASV Grunwettersbach team plays in the German Bundesliga (TTBL). “Our cooperation is more thena decade long and am happy to be invited to be part of the team again. LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF-European Table Tennis Championships Nantes France Sept 3-8 Swedish National Team is satisfied with the outcome of the recent draw for the LIEBHERR 2019 ITTF-European Table Tennis Championships (September 3-8) to be held in Nantes (France). Sweden’s men team runner-up at the recent 2019 European Games in Minsk Belarus will be no. 2 seed in Nantes playing in Group B with 2009 bronze medalist Romania and Hungary 4-time champion (last time 1982). Sweden is the record holder with 14 titles. Women’s team no. 6 seed is the 2014 bronze medalist. They are going to play in Group F with the third placed side at the recent 2019 European Games Poland and Turkey. Only winners of eight group will reach quertar-finals. Swedish players will have individual preparation at Bulgaria Open (13-18 August) and the Czech Open (20-25 August) while the entire national team will have its final preparation on home soil in Halmstad (25-30 August). Seven-times gold medalist and 2019 European Games winner Germany (top seed) won all its seven titles in last 12 years in Timo BOLL era. Their opponents have one bronze each Russia in 2013 and Czech Republic in 2010. Group B is the most decorated one.
