Actual no.2 seed FAN beat his compatriot XU Xin (no.1) in five games while SUN got revenge on Japan’s Mima ITO for the semi-final defeat she suffered last weekend in Swedish Open. At the semi-final stage FAN was extended to full distance by no.7 seed LIANG Jingkun. XU Xin who leads in the Race to the ITTF World Tour Grand Final (December 12-15) overcame Korea’s JEOUNG Youngsik in five games. It was FAN’s 12th ITTF World Tour title but first one in this year. This title will secure him 500 points and rise from no.8 to no.4 at the current standings. However XU cemented his no.1 spot having 2044 points followed by MA Long and LIN Gaoyuan (both now have 1425). No.3 seed in Bremen SUN Yingsha takes over women’s no.1 in the Race to Zhengzhou with 1882 points 282 more than World no.1 CHEN Meng. The documents are focused on Swedish history but it also covers all big international tournaments…Olympics World Championships World Cup ITTF World Tour European Championships as well as Para-tournaments. “We think that it will bring a lot of joy to many tabletennisfans around the world. The race is on to stage the 2023 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals
The globe’s biggest table tennis event can be staged in any corner of the world and expressions of interest hailing from four different continents are testament to that. Australia Germany Kuwait and South Africa are the national associations to have thrown their hat into the ring in a bid to host the 2023 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals. This will ensure a truly international flavour to the sport’s most prestigious annual event which following this year’s event in Budapest (Hungary) will take place in Busan (Korea Republic) in 2020 Houston (United States) in 2021 and Chengdu (China) in 2022. Held since 1926 the World Table Tennis Championships holds the greatest historical significance and highest global interest among players fans media and partners. The potential economic impact for host cities weighs in at tens of millions US dollars. This is also a huge PR opportunity for cities thanks to unrivalled TV and digital media exposure. The 2023 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals will be the third edition under the evolutionary expanded format to ensure maximum participation of ITTF member National Associations. 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum German Open The 20th edition of German Open – 2019 ITTF World Tour Platinum German Open – commenced today October 8th by qualification stage. It is the seventh time since 1999 that the city of Bremen is hosting this event which main draw starts this Thursday October 10th with 32 players in both Men’s and Women’s singles as well as 16 pairs in doubles events. The road to the 2019 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals reaches its penultimate stage in Bremen ahead of final World Tour event in Austria (Linz November 14-17th also Platinum). The Grand Finals will be held in the city of Zhengzhou placed in the central part of China between 12–15 December. In order to qualify players need to finish among the top 16 in the men’s and women’s competitions and among the top 8 in men’s women’s and mixed doubles categories. Fifteen singles players will qualify according to the final standings while one to be chosen by host country. Each player must play at least five tournaments within year to be considered in general placement and it is an important fact for German star Timo BOLL who enters German Open as no. 15 in current standings but with only four participations so far. Platinum tournaments offers 500 points for the winner (30 000 US$ prize money) 300 for finalist (15 000 US$) 200 for semi-finalist (7 500 US$) 100 for quarter-finalist (3 750 US$) … Total prize money is: 270 000 US$.
