Germany’s 1. FC Saarbrücken TT recorded second win in the Group D in the Champions League Men. Tonight in Denmark they overcame Roskilde Bordtennis BTK 61 – 3:1. Previously they overcame French AS Pontoise Cergy TT. In the opening duel Cedric NUYTINCK overcame Jens LUNDQUIST (11:9 11:9 11:9) before Patrick FRANZISKA widener the gap with the victory over Michael MAZE (11:4 11:2 11:4). Then the game became more exciting. Mikkel HINDERSSON overcame Hiromu KOBAYASHI (13:11 9:11 5:11 11:8 6:4) and FRANZISKA was stretched to full distance against LUNDQUIST (11:3 11:8 7:11 7:11 6:4). “We are very happy with this victory because it came little bit tight at the end. Post SV Mühlhausen 1951 e.V. secured third victory in the Group B of the Champions League Men tonight in France. For a second time in three days they overcame GV Hennebont TT 3:1. Previously they also overcame SPG FELBERMAYR Wels 3:1. The last match in the Group they will play against Austria’s club on December 13th. Tonight three out of four matches went full distances. In first CHUANG Chih-Yuan vs. Daniel HABESOHN Habesohn won it by death point (11:13 11:7 12:10 4:11 6:5). In the fifth game he was 2:5 down before he won the match 6:5. Kristian KARLSSON leveled the score by beating Steffen MENGEL (11:5 11:7 7:11 10:12 6:4). Ioannis SGOUROPOULOS lost to Ovidiu IONESCU (12:10 11:13 7:11 11:5 4:6). Mihai Razvan BOBOCICA also beat BRODD (11:8 11:7 14:12). Marc DURAN recorded only point for Spanish club. He beat Andrea PUPPO (11:8 11:9 4:11 6:11 6:4). “The very important victory we made already in Spain where we won 3:0. Today we needed just 2 matches to win. I start the match against Lillo with comfortable win and Bobo played very good against BRODD and secured that we passed to quarterfinals. Pitty that PUPPO lost fifth set against DURAN. So I had to play against BRODD for “nothing “. I tried to enjoy the match make some nice points even if I will lose the match. I was down 0:2 but I came back and won 3:2. Christos Christodoulatos the former great player and president of Hellenic Federation passed away
At the age of 88 Christos Christodoulatos the great old champion and for 26 consecutive years president of Hellenic Table Tennis Federation (1982-2008) and a vice-president of the European Table Tennis Union (1992-1996) passed away. An very important person for the sport of the country and with international prestige. A factor with a huge contribution to the sports movement in general he had the unlimited respect and appreciation first with his very important course as an international player and later with his presence in various administrative positions. An eminent lawyer he practiced alongside the top position on the federation’s board of directors. He died peacefully at his home on Tuesday 11/15 and in a close family circle on Friday 11/18 the funeral service took place in Melissia and then the cremation process in Ritsona. Christos Christodoulatos was born in 1934 in Thessaloniki and first picked up a racket in 1945 at the local club Aetos. He made his first sports report at YMCA and in the 1949-1950 season he competed at OAA Heraklion as his family had been in Crete for a year. He returned to YMCA in 1952 he took part for the first time in the Greek championship for men and women but in the same year his relationship with the sport changed. He entered Athens Law School came to settle permanently in Athens and his parents did not allow him to continue playing table tennis in order to devote himself to his studies. He finished the University and got involved in the sport again in 1959 making a report at the Nea Ionia AS Athens. He held the racket with penholder grip and was the first to play with top spin in Greek table tennis. His long presence in the national team began in 1960. He stated that by 1980 when he was retired from the national team he had made more than 650 international appearances. He won a total of 25 National titles in men’s individual events he was 43 years old when he was last crowned Greek men’s singles champion (second in history as the most multi-winner in this event behind Ioannis Vlotinos with 10) and he tasted all these successes with 4 different clubs (AE Nea Ionia AEK AO Pagratiou and Olympiacos). In addition he had many firsts in the First National League and the Greek Cup as well as international awards. In second leg Carlos CABALLERO commenced with the victory over Zokhid KENJAEV (13:11 11:7 7:11 11:8) but Ondrej BAJGER leveled the score with the victory over HANG Lam Siu (11:4 11:9 6:11 11:7). In the decisive game BAJGER also beat CABALLERO (11:8 11:6 11:5). Simon BELIK lost to Vladislav URSU (6:11 11:9 2:11 8:11). In the return leg of the Stage three in Europe Cup Women in Athens Greek Panathinaikos A.C. beat LZ Linz Froschberg in four games. In the opening leg on Monday in Austria they needed one less. Katerina TOLIOU prevailed against Andrea Pavlovic in the opening match (11-5 11-7 11-4) and against Anastasiya ADZIONAVA in the last.
