BERZOSA and LAM Stay Perfect in U19 Boys’ Event After Day One in Tours

In the Under 19 Boys’ category at the Europe Youth Top 10 in Tours, France, no. 1 seed Daniel BERZOSA of Spain and France’s Nathan LAM ended day one with flawless records after three rounds.

BERZOSA was in strong form throughout the day, posting victories over France’s Flavio MOURIER, Poland’s Rafal FORMELA, and Czechia’s Stepan BRHEL without major difficulties.

LAM, cheered on by the home crowd, also remained unbeaten with wins over his compatriot Antoine NOIRAULT, Flavio MOURIER, and FORMELA.

The opening round delivered the first upset of the day. England’s Connor GREEN, seeded no. 7, defeated Belgium’s Tom CLOSSET, the no. 5 seed, in a gripping seven-game encounter. CLOSSET recovered quickly, beating Samuel ARPAS of Slovakia and NOIRAULT, while GREEN continued his good run with victories against ARPAS and Marcel BLASZCZYK of Poland. Their later head-to-head clash turned into one of the day’s most exciting battles, filled with momentum swings.
