Continental Stars Ready for Battle at the European Team Championships in Zadar

In just over a month, the top continental players will gather for another edition of the European Team Table Tennis Championships. The city of Zadar, Croatia, will host the Championships from 12 to 19 October.

Two years ago, Germany’s women’s team equaled Hungary’s record with a ninth title in history. With stars such as Europe’s No. 3 Sabine WINTER, No. 6 Ying HAN, and No. 9 Nina MITTELHAM, the reigning champions aim to become the most decorated team since the inaugural edition in 1958. They will be joined by Yuan WAN and Annett KAUFMANN.

In the 2024 Malmo final, Germany overcame Romania. The five-time champions return led by Europe’s No. 2 Bernadette SZOCS and No. 5 Elizabeta SAMARA, alongside Adina DIACONU, Andreea DRAGOMAN, and Ioana SINGEORZAN.

Bronze medalists from Sweden in 2023, Portugal will be represented by Jieni SHAO and Fu YU, ranked 11th and 12th in Europe, as well as Ines MATOS and Matilde PINTO. Portugal is still chasing its first gold.

France, also a semifinalist two years ago, will arrive in Zadar with European No. 4 Jia Nan YUAN, No. 8 Prithika PAVADE, and Camille LUTZ, Charlotte LUTZ, and Audrey ZARIF.

Austria, without Europe’s No. 1 Sofia POLCANOVA in 2023, fell in the Round of 16 against France. This time, POLCANOVA is joined by Yuan LIU, Karoline MISCHEK, and Nina SKERBINZ.

The host nation, Croatia, will feature Hana ARAPOVIĆ, Dora ĆOSIĆ, Mateja JEGER MAJSTOROVIĆ, Ivana MALOBABIĆ, and Lea RAKOVAC. Spain will rely on Maria XIAO, ranked No. 7 in Europe, together with Maria BERZOSA, Ainhoa CRISTOBAL, Elvira Fiona RAD, and Sofia-Xuan ZHANG.
