Czech Championship Titles to Be Contested in Prostějov

From March 21 to 23, the best Czech male and female players will gather at Sportcentrum DDM Prostějov to compete for national championship titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The tournament will showcase elite talent, with established champions and rising stars battling for the prestigious titles.

Key Absences and Notable Participants

Most of the top Czech players have registered, but several notable names will be missing. Defending women’s singles champion Hana MATELOVÁ announced last year in Prague that her eighth title would be her last, opting out of future national championships. Tomáš POLANSKÝ will also be absent as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury. Additionally, former national team member and two-time Czech singles champion Tomáš KONEČNÝ will not participate.

On the men’s side, defending champion Lubomír JANČAŘÍK is among the top contenders, along with Pavel ŠIRUČEK, Jiří MARTINKO, Antonín GAVLAS, and Jan VALENTA. Each of these players has previously won national titles either in the senior or U21 category.

With Hana MATELOVÁ absent, Zdena BLAŠKOVÁ enters the women’s singles competition as the top seed. Having already won a senior singles title, she will be looking to reclaim the crown. However, she will face strong competition from young talents Hanka KODET and Veronika POLÁKOVÁ, as well as the experienced Karin GROFOVÁ, who has come close to gold on multiple occasions.
