29/05/2010 – Stefano BOSI President of the European Table Tennis Union met yesterday with the Vice-President of Swiss Table Tennis and President of the Vaud-Valais-Fribourg Association Yves ODOBERT and said he hoped it was the start of a more sustained relationship with Swiss Table Tennis.

Stefano BOSI was very keen to ensure that Switzerland played a greater role on the European Table Tennis scene. Yves ODOBERT was present in Moscow to promote the Swiss Open 2010 to be held in Lausanne 20-21 November. The Swiss Open had not been held in Switzerland for over a decade. A delegation from Lausanne was present in Moscow to promote the event and to ensure that some of the best players on the ITTF ranking list would compete in Lausanne.

Yves ODOBERT also met with the President of the ITTF Adham SHARARA and the President of the Francophonie Pongiste Internationale (Federation of French speaking table tennis countries) Michel DE CHADAREVIAN. The President of the ITTF promised his full support to the Swiss Open and said he would ensure the participation of top Canadian players. Michel DE CHADAREVIAN was equally pleased to see the possibility of re-integrating Switzerland into the Francophone family.

The networking and promotional possibilities are immense at the World Championships and these meetings promise a more active future for Swiss table tennis (click here for more information mail address contact@sttopen.ch).
