14/06/2010 – After this season we could say that Borussia is the most successful European table tennis club having in mind the nine European titles (three in ECL era) but also its clear that this club is one of the best in German sport.
Last week Borussia finished their winning journey through Europe and Germany beating Ochsenhausen in final rematch of national championship – 3:1 (first match 3:2). That is Borussia`s 23rd title in German league and historical first triple crown counting German cup reached in first days of this year. Only club who managed that before was Grenzau 23 years ago. Borussia reached small “triple crown” in 1995 taking ETTU cup instead ECL.
Borussia`s success inspired many German media to compare this club with the best German club in all sport Bayern Munich one of the best clubs ever in European and world history. Both clubs Borussia and Bayern had very successful seasons with six finals together and only one loss: Bayern from Inter Milan in football Champions League. Both sports institution now have 54 trophies each but Dusseldorf has one more German league (23:22) and five European crowns more (9:4).
