The draw of 2013/14 Men’s European Champions League, held today in Dusseldorf, put three big names in Group D: ten times European champion Borussia, actual vice-champion Chartres and 2008 winner Niederosterreich.

The draw of 2013/14 Men’s European Champions League at Dusseldorf brought very strong company in Group D: ten times European champion Borussia (Germany), actual MECL vice-champion Chartres (France) and 2008 winner Niederosterreich (Austria). Enough reason to call it “The Group of Death”! Totally 13 clubs are divided in four groups.

Reigning champion Fakel Gazproma Orenburg (Russia, no. 1 seed) will fight in Group A together with Bundesliga`s vice-champion Ochsenhausen and French Angers. New Russian champion, UMMC leads the unique group with four teams (B) where are compete against 2011/12 MECL semi finalist Saarbrucken, second placed team in France Pontoise and newcomer from Sweden Eslovs.

New German champion Werder Bremen is favorite in Group C. French Hennebont and Austrian Walter Wels, which debuts in MECL, will try to secure one of two top spots of the group, to progress in quarter final.

The opening round will be held on September 6-9th and we’ll witness again the battle we used to see: Borussia – Niederosterreich. Defending champions Orenburg opens upcoming season against Angers on its soil.

Group A: Fakel Gazproma Orenburg, Ochsenhausen, Angers.
Group B: UMMC, Saarbrucken, AS Pontoise, Eslovs
Group C: Werder Bremen, Hennebont, Walter Weltz
Group D: Borussia Dusseldorf, Chartres ASTT, Niederosterreich
