Universiade: gold and silver for Japan in Kazan

Japan clinched gold and silver at the 27th Universiade in Kazan. It was gold for the Women’s Team formed by Yuka ISHIGAKI, Rika SUZUKA and Riyo NEMOTO; for the Men’s Team comprising Hiromitsu KASAHARA, Maharu YOSHIMURA and Jin UEDA, it was silver.

Both finals were decided in convincing fashions; three matches to nil score-lines being the end result in each contest.

Represented by SHANG Kun, LIU Yi and FANG Bo China proved too strong for the Japan in the Men’s Team final.

In the Women’s Team final, it was the reverse scenario. The Taipei outfit formed by CHEN Szu-Yu, CHENG I-Ching and LEE I-Chen found Japan in irresistible form.
