Adina DIACONU and Andreea CLAPA of Romania clinched gold medal in the In Cadet Girls Doubles Event at the European Youth Championships in Ostrava. In the final they overcame Maria MALANINA of Russia  and HO Tin Tin of England to secure the title. Daria CHERNORAY and Valeria BAGAPOVA of Russia and Andreea DRAGOMAN with Mihaela PLEASU of Romania reached third position.

Adina DIACONU and Andreea CLAPA both radiated after the final. “It is hard to play against the player with the defensive style of play. That made our job very hard,” said CLAPA.

In semi final encounter Maria MALANINA  and HO Tin Tin cruised through the game with confidence. They already won the Czech Open and played in the final of the Polish Open. “We are feeling very good playing together. At no point we were under pressure today against Andreea DRAGOMAN with Mihaela PLEASU,” said MALANINA.

They lost first set in the semi final, but that did not affect their confidence. “We had a rough start, but then we found right tactics, with good spins,” said HO Tin Tin.

In other penultimate stage duel Adina DIACONU and Andreea CLAPA beat Daria CHERNORAY and Valeria BAGAPOVA of Russia. Russia’s pairings starched Romanian favourites to full distance, but failed to seal the match. ” This whole tournament is so hard for me emotionally. Each match is real challenge, but in final stages we had more confidence,” said CLAPA.

Adina DIACONU won the title in Cadet Doubles last year with Mihaela LUPU and asked is it easier for her now, she replied: “It is never easy to play at the closing stages of the Championships. I will never used to it.”

Cadet Girls Doubles final: Adina DIACONU and Andreea CLAPA (Romania) – Maria MALANINA (Russia)  and HO Tin Tin (England) 3:0 (11:8, 11:7, 11:3)
