Guernsey TTA development officer Rebecca O’KEEFE organized the camp for 32 players. In six days ETTU development coach Branka BATINIC from Croatia worked with players.

“I took the opportunity to organize this camp having seen and meet Branka coaching on past Eurokids,” said Rebecca O’KEEFE.

European Coach and 4 times World and European women’s veteran champion Branka BATINIC was at the Island to coach local players during the school holidays. “BATINIC arrived in Guernsey 2 hours late due to strong winds on Friday the 14th February having a bumpy landing on her first and hopefully not her last visit to Guernsey.”

For six days BATINIC put Guernsey junior and senior players through their paces, working on technique and movement while playing their shots and moving around the table also raising their match play capability.

The camp programme was: 5 morning sessions 09.30am to 12.30 and afternoon session 3pm to 5pm. including multi ball and single play. On the last day they tested their skills on new knowledge in a competition.

The training was at a high intensity with many new ideas for the Guernsey players and coach to help the future progression of table tennis in the small island of Guernsey.
