At the GAC Group 2014 ITTF World Tour, Qatar Open (Super) five men and six women from Europe will play in Round of 16 of their respective Men’s and Women’s Singles Event.

In the Round of 32 Vladimir SAMSONOV of Belarus, the no.7 seed, defeated Portugal’s João MONTEIRO (11-9, 15-13, 8-11, 11-3, 10-12, 11-8); whilst Germany’s Dimitrij OVTCHAROV overcame Korea’s LEE Sangsu, the no.31 seed (13-11, 3-11, 11-8, 8-11, 6-11, 11-4, 11-7) after fierce battle. On the lower half of the draw XU Xin, the no.2 seed, defeated Panagiotis GIONIS of Greece (11-7, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8); Yan An, also from China ended the hopes of Belgium’s Jean-Michel SAIVE (9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8); whilst Japan’s Jun MIZUTANI, the no.8 seed, ousted Turkey’s Ahmet LI (12-10, 9-11, 4-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-3).

Adrian CRISAN of Romania overcame JUNG Youngsik of Korea (11-8,11-5,13-11,5-11,11-9) and WONG Chun Ting of Hong Kong stretched Robert GARDOS of Austria to full seven games (11-6,9-11,11-13,11-9,9-11,11-6,3-11). Another Austrian, CHEN Weixing is still in game after victory over Jonathan GROTH of Denmark 4:1 (11-8, 11-8,11-5,10-12,11-6).

In Women’s Singles Event Germany’s HAN Ying, the no.4 seed, was beaten by Chinese qualifier, LIU Fei (9-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9); whilst Viktoria PAVLOVICH of Belarus, the no.5 seed, suffered at the hands of Portugal’s YU Fu (11-5, 11-2, 10-12, 11-13, 12-10, 11-9). SEOK Hajung, the no.7 seed, overcame Austria’s Sofia POLCANOVA who, after losing the opening game (11-9), conceded the match through injury.

Germany’s Petrissa SOLJA the no.25 seed, accounted for Chinese Taipei’s CHENG I-Ching, the no.11 seed (9-11, 15-13, 12-10, 11-8, 11-7); whilst LIU Gaoyang, the no.17 seed, defeated Turkey’s HU Melek, the no.17 seed (11-8, 11-6, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8).

Meanwhile, for the Czech Republic’s Katerina PENKAVOVA, who one day earlier had ousted Japan’s Kasumi ISHIKAWA, it was defeat. She was beaten by LI Xue of France, the no.21 seed (11-6, 11-9, 11-6, 11-7).

LI Fen of Sweden overcame Iveta VACENOVSKA of Czech Republic (13-11, 11-6,11-6,11-1), whilst LIU Jia of Austria succeeded against HUANG Yi-Hua of Taipei. Elizabeta SAMARA beat LIU Xi of China after seven games duel (11-9,8-11,11-8,9-11,11-4,11-13,11-3)
