Successful round for Commonwealth’s hosts

Preliminary round of individual events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was successful for many host players. Lynda FLAWS managed to reach Round of 64 beating Jamaica’s Yvonne FOSTER in seven games and it was one of most dramatical moments today

Preliminary round of individual events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow was successful for many host players. Lynda FLAWS managed to reach Round of 64 beating Jamaica’s Yvonne FOSTER in seven games and it was one of most dramatical moments today in  in Scotstoun Sports Campus. Scottish women was two sets up but she had to play all seven and finally beat her opponent 4:3 (11:6 8:11 11:2 12:10 9:11 11:13 11:9). Main draw starts tomorrow (Jul 30th) and top seed and main candidate for the gold is Singaporean FENG Tianwei (world`s no 4).

In Men`s Group 4m Marios YIANGOU from Cyprus beat  Simasiku KALALUKA (ZAM) 4:0 (11:6 11:3 11:2 11:1) and Mahbub BILLAH (BAN) 4:0 (11:8 11:5 11:8 11:4). Paul MCCREERY (Northern Ireland) in Group 9 also had two 4:0 wins as Craig HOWIESON from Scotland in Group 10 Welsh Stephen JENKINS in Group 13 and host Sean DOHERTY (Scotland) in Group 18. Ashley ROBINSON (Northern Ireland) beat M. RAMEEZ (Pakistan) 4:1 Omarie FERDINAND (Saint Lucia) 4:0 in Group 16.

Women`s preliminary round brought easy job for English Tin-Tin HO (England) who defeated 4:0 both her rivals in Group 1 – Amina LUKAAYA (Uganda) and Aminath SHAREEF (Maldives)

In Group 2 Charlotte CAREY (Wales) also had double 4:0 as Amanda MOGEY (Northern Ireland) in Group 7. Northern Ireland`s Megan PHILLIPS (Group 12) and Ashley GIVAN (Group 17) lost just one set in their groups.
