Commonwealth: good day for the DRINKHALL`s

It was very successful day for the DRINKHALL`s on the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Paul DRINKHALL reached Round of 32 in single Round of 16 in double (with Liam PITCHFORD) and alongside his wife Joanna DRINKHALL will play in mixed pair`s semis. English couple beat in the quarter final no. 2 seed from Singapore GAO Ning/YE Lin 3:1 (11:9 11:6 8:11 11:6). Their compatriot Liam PITCHFORD got the same achievement as Paul DRINKHALL on all three routes.

Totally five Europeans will play in men`s Round of 32 on 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow: Liam PITCHFORD Paul DRINKHALL Andrew BAGGALEY (all three from England) Gavin RUMGAY (Scotland) and Ryan JENKINS (Wales).

In women`s single event (Round of 32) just Naomi OWEN (Wales) survived after she beat Joanna DRINKHALL (England) in five games. In the battle for the last 16 OWEN plays against Jian Fang LAY (Australia) who defeated Indian M. S. PATKAR in seven games.

Two England pairs (P. DRINKHALL/L/ PITCHFORD and D. REED/S. WALKER) progressed in Round of 16 on men`s doubles event.

Three England`s mixed pairs reached semi-final. They will fight with no. 1 seed ZHAN Jian/FENG Tianwei from Singapore.
