Russian UMMC one of favorites in 2014/15 Men’s European Champions League beat Angers Vaillante 3:1 in Round 1 of Group C. The man of the match was Japanese Jun MIZUTANI who brought two points to the host side.

In opening encounter Japanese defeated Benjamin BROSSIER in straight games. Just in last one guest had a small chance to do something more.

The second clash was the interesting one taking five games. Alexander SHIBAEV managed to beat Jens LUNDQVIST thanks to good play in late fifth set. First two sets belonged to Russian but guest leveled. In decisive game when result was 6:6 SHIBAEV won three consecutive points to bring 2:0 lead for his side.

Christophe LEGOUT surprised world’s no. 13 Joao MONTEIRO in four sets. Experienced Frenchman in all three sets that he won needed to reach more than 11 points.

Finally MIZUTANI beat LUNDQVIST who again lost in five games. This time Swede had good situation after third set but Japanese dominated in last two sets losing just eight points in total.
