The 25th international Finlandia Open at Kisakallio Sports Institute started with team competition on Thursday. At the end of the very long day – at about 10 p.m. – it was clear that France is looking for victory in both men’s and women’s competition.

Stephane OUAICHE and Jean GREGOIRE had no big problems against Puerto Rico in their semifinal. They will meet Iran in the final this evening. Iran with Nima and Noshad ALAMIYAN DARONKOLAEI may take a role as a favourite of the local spectators: left-handed Noshan collected applauses by changing his racket hand skillfully during the rallies.

In women’s team final unseeded Japan 2 with Mariko TAKAHASHI and Yui ODONO will face France with Stephanie LOEUILLETTE and Emmanuelle LENNON. The formers had severe problems with Russia in their semi final encinter but two victories of TAKAHASHI saved them. Singles with progressive knock out system started this morning. The system is offering 2-3 matches to every participant daily until Sunday.

Team finals will take their place at 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
