China’s Ma Long won his second GAC Group 2015 ITTF World Men’s Singles title of the year when he emerged successful the German city of Bremen tonight. At the final hurdle he beat Chinese National Team compatriot ZHANG Jike the no.2 seed to secure the top prize. In a thrilling seven games duel Ma Long recovered from a three games to one deficit secure victory (11-9 7-11 8-11 14-16 11-6 14-12 11-8).

Previously MA Long ended the hopes of the host nation by recovering from a two games to nil deficit to beat Dimitrij OVTCHAROV the no.4 seed and defending champion (8-11 9-11 11-6 11-8 11-4 11-4).

Mima ITO won the Women’s Singles title and thus becomes the youngest ever winner in the history of the ITTF World Tour. At the final hurdle she beat the host nation’s Petrissa SOLJA (9-11 13-11 7-11 11-7 12-12 12-10) in a contest that whatever the outcome made history.

It was the first time that two qualifiers had contested an ITTF World Tour Women’s Singles final; furthermore had Petrissa SOLJA won she would have become the first player in the history of the ITTF World Tour to win a a hat-trick of available titles.

Winner of the Under 21 Women’s Singles title two days earlier Petrissa SOLJA added to her collection of titles on the concluding day of play. She partnered colleague SHAN Xiaona to gold in the Women’s Doubles event the duo accounting for the Hong Kong partnership od DOO Hoi Kem and LEE Ho Ching at the final hurdle (11-6 11-6 11-9).

SHAN Xiaona and Petrissa SOLJA occupied the no.6 seeded position in the draw; DOO Hoi Kem and LEE Ho Ching were listed one place below. They were the no.7 seeds.
