Who will enter TTCLM quarter-finals: Eslovs or UMMC?

TTCLM Round 6 will be held this Thursday and Friday (December 15-16th)

Who will take remaining three tickets for the 2016/17 quarter-finals of Table Tennis Champions League Men it will be clear after the Round 6 this Thursday and Friday. Games in focus are: TTF LIEBHERR OCHSENHAUSEN – VAILLANTE SPORTS ANGERS TT (December 16th 20:00 CET) ESLOVS AI BORDTENNIS – UMMC (December 16th 19:30 CET) and BOGORIA GRODZISK MAZOWIECKI – G.V. HENNEBONT TT (December 15th 19:00 CET).

Ochsenhausen starts with a big advantage against Angers having 3:0 (9:4) victory from the previous meeting in France. It means that German side needs just five sets to reach quarter-finals. Anger`s president Gérard SARAZIN is aware of the situation:

“We are sure to continue in ETTU cup this season and we have reached our goal. The draw was so hard for us with Orenburg untouchable and Ochsenhausen (we lost 3:0 but so no chance for the rematch) the club where play the best young player in the world (except Chinese players)”.

Group B brings super clash between current TTCLM runner-up Eslovs and 2012 finalist UMMC. Russian club won first clash 3:2 (11:6) and Swedish club will fight to overcome it. After Round 5 win against reigning TTCLM winner Pontoise UMMC`s coach Tatiana Kutergina stated:

“I believe this is not the peak of our form. This is a good quality work good table tennis. Unfortunately there is no chance for us to be the first in the group but the championship is not over for us. We go to Sweden in good sports form and we are determined to win”.

The main hero of the match against two times TTCLM champion who brought two points Aleksander SHIBAEV stressed:

“At the end of the match I did not even feel tired so strong was the desire to bring it to victory. I’m satisfied with the result the most important thing is that the team won. We must go further to the victory”.

From Group C Saarbrucken secured its place among the best eight while Bogoria and Hennebont will fight to join them. Both teams have 3-2 score so it’s clear that the winner of the upcoming clash will enter the next stage of 2016/17 TTCLM. Czech club TTC Ostrava 2016 hosts German team without any chance to avoid fourth place in that group.

“We wanted to win finally in Hennebont and from our side match was close and we had our chances especially in first two matches of the evening…but we could not use it” said Ostava`s Petr KORBEL after the Round 5.

Group D already announced its quarter-finalists. They are ten times TTCLM champion Borussia and 2013 runner-up Chartres. Round 6 will decide the ETTU Cup quarter-finalist as two teams enter the ultimate round with six points each: KST ENERGA-MANEKIN TORUN and SPG WALTER WELS. Both will face favorites this Friday.
