Borussia secures Playoff berth in Bundesliga

Dusseldorf`s side beat Saarbrucken 3:0 in the 13th Round

 

Borussia Dusseldorf is the first club who secured their place in the 2016/17 Bundesliga Playoff as they beat Saarbrucken Tischtennis 3:0. This 13th round clash was held in front of more than 1 500 spectators in Sporthalle Berg Fidel in Münster. Reigning champion who hosted the match showed excellent game in spite of playing without injured Timo BOLL and Kristian KARLSSON. On the other side coach Slobodan GRUJIC couldn’t count on former Borussia`s player Patrick FRANZISKA.

 

Stefan FEGERL overcame Bojan TOKIC in four games of the opener (11:9 11:5 9:11 11:5) whilst rising star Anton KALLBERG upset best Saarbrucken`s player Tiago APOLONIA after full five sets (9:11 12:10 11:13 12:10 11:7). Indian Kamal ACHANTA concluded the encounter by his win against ex-Borussia`s Patrick BAUM (11:4 11:9 11:9).

 

Borussia now tops Bundesliga with 11-1 score followed by TTF LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen (10-3) Fulda-Maberzell (9-4) and Saarbrucken (7-5). Bearing in mind actual standings recent German Cup finalists Borussia and Saarbrucken could meet once more in the semi-final of the national league.
