Gold for Maciej KUBIK and Ivor BAN in Cadets Doubles

2018 STAG European Youth Championships

 

Maciej KUBIK of Poland and Ivor BAN of Croatia clinched the gold in the Cadet Boys Doubles Event. They overcame Andrei TOMICA and Darius MOVILEANU of Romania in the ultimate stage of the Event at the 2018 STAG European Youth Championships. Bronze madalists are Myshaal SABHI and Fabio RAKOTOARIMANANA of France and Slovakia’s Adam KLAJBER and Filip DELINCAK.

 

“We were very good at the first ball and controlled the match ” said BAN.

 

In the penultimate stage KUBIK and BAN overcame Adam KLAJBER and Filip DELINCAK.

 

“This is the first tournament that we play together but we had very good preparation in Poland before the start of the Championships ” explained Ivor BAN. ”Against Slovakia’s pairings it was important to play first balls good. We closed their game with good spins. Basically we played good service and receive game ” said BAN.

 

KUBIK added: “We attack on every ball and we were very focused.”

 

Andrei TOMICA and Darius MOVILEANU overcame Myshaal SABHI and Fabio RAKOTOARIMANANA of France. They recovered from 0:2 to win the match.

 

“It was a tough match. We managed though to push ourselves from 0:2 in reverse and to win the duel ” said Darius MOVILEANU.

 

Andrei added: “We didn’t give up at 2-0 cause if we had it would have been over but we fought and we won.”
