CCB Europe Top 16 Cup Montreux February 2-3
Sofia POLCANOVA from Austria is the third youngest Women’s participant at the CCB Europe Top 16 Cup Montreux but her name stands at the top of the seeding list. In spite of that fact 24-year-old Linz’s player doesn’t feel any pressure as she emphasized on the eve of the event to be held this Saturday and Sunday February 2-3.
The upcoming tournament will be your fourth one at the CCB Europe Top 16 Cup. How do you comment your results so far (two quarter-finals) and what do you remember the most from the previous editions?
“My best result was 2015 I felt really good and could win against many top players. In 2018 the result was not the top of the top so far but I hope to make it better this year. I feel confident now with my game. I remember the atmosphere in Montreux was very nice it is a fantastic city and the organization was perfect.”
How would you describe the last year in terms of your results? Are you satisfied with 2018?
“I didn’t play bad but I think I could do better.”
Do you feel bigger pressure than before being now no. 1 seed and what is your goal?
“Actually not I think that every player there is a top player everyone can beat everyone doesn’t matter which ranking they have. I am ready to give a fight to do my best and to fight until the last point. My goal is to show a good game and to win!”
Whom do you consider as favourites and why?
“Me! (smile). As I said before all players are good and everything can happen there are for sure going to be a few surprises.”
What are your personal aims in 2019?
“To keep improving my game to train even harder and not get injured.”
