ECLW: Tarnobrzeg reaches semi-finals

ECLW quarter-finals Leg 2: KTS Enea Siarka Tarnobrzeg – Sporting Clube de Portugal 3:1 (1st leg 3:1)

Two-time ECLW runner-up KTS Enea Siarka Tarnobrzeg reached 2018/19 ECLW semi-finals as they beat Sporting Clube de Portugal 3:1 in the second leg held tonight in the Polish city of Tarnobrzeg. Poland’s champion fully deserved semi-finals bearing in mind that they won first leg with the same score.

Two medallists from the 2013 ITTF European Championships met in the opener where Sporting’s LI Fen (gold at 2013 ECH) beat HAN Ying (bronze 2013) after full five games.

Host side responded by three wins in a row. GU Rouchen and LI Qian defeated their opponents in straight games Daniela DODEAN MONTEIRO and Zhenqi BARTHEL APOLONIA respectively while Kinga STEFANSKA was extended to full distance by DODEAN MONTEIRO.

Tarnobrzeg faces two-time ECLW champion Linz AG Froschberg in the semi-final. It will be a reprise of the 2017/18 quarter-finals when Poland’s side progressed among the best four teams.
