Roskilde reaches quarter-finals second time in three years

2019/20 Table Tennis Champions League Men

 

In the reprise of the 2018/19 semi-finals held nine months ago Angers and Fakel Gazprom played tonight (Dec 6th) in France almost same match in the 2019/20 Round 5: host team led 2:0 but lost 3:2. Russian side impoved its win-loss record at 5-0 while Angers has to win Leka Enea in Round 6 and wait for Orenburg’s win over Muhlhausen in order to get quarter-final spot.

 

Angers won first two clashes after full five games: Jon PERSSON vs. Vladimir SAMSONOV and Andrea LANDRIEU vs. Marcos FREITAS. Dimitrij OVTCHAROV prevented huge upset as he defeated Jens LUNDQVIST in straight games. PERSSON extended FREIRAS to full distance in the fourth encounter to tie the score at 2-2. SAMSONOV secured win for Russian side after his win over ANDRIEU.

 

Another Russian club UMMC has a perfect 5-0 score. Verkhnaya Pyshma’s team beat TTC Ostrava 3:1. Cadet of the host side Semen SHEVNIN debuted in the TTCLM and won one set against Felipe OLIVARES.

 

No.4 seed Roskilde Bordtennis BTK61 reached its second quarter-final in last three seasons. Danish team beat away SPG Walter Wels 3:1 thanks to former Saarbrucken’s player Bojan TOKIC who brought two points. Michael MAZE added third one in the tense clash against Dominique PLATTNER.

 

Polish club Bogoria prevailed against GDCS Juncal 3:0 in Group C although they secured quarter-final spot after Round 4.
