Two out of two for Luxembourg

In the Group A4 in the European Championships Teams Stage one Luxembourg recorded second win. After the team succeeded against Serbia Luxembourg prevailed against Austria tonight in home match.

NI Xia Lian led her team to the victory with two five games wins over Karoline MISCHEK (11:5 11:5 8:11 7:11 11:6) and Sofia POLCANOVA (6:11 11:4 5:11 11:6 11:6).

POLCANOVA won one point in the match against Sarah DE NUTTE (11:5 11:4 7:11 11:9) and Tessy GONDERINGER overcame Amalie SOLJA (11:7 11:1 11:8).

“The match was very though for us but we are so happy that we managed to win before our home crowd! The athmosphere in the hall and the support from our spectators were perfect. The first game from Xia Lin against MISCHEK was already a very close fifth set game after Sarah played fantastic but lost against POLCANOVA. Then I won in straight games against SOLJA what I haven‘t expected before the match. It was the first time today that I played against her and so I wasn‘t sure how I would play against her style of game with the anti. After this Xia Lin won in a very close game against the current European champion which is simply fanstastic ” said Tessy GONDERINGER.

In Group A4 Austria and Serbia were beaten twice and won one match each.
