Osijek kicks off the Europe Youth Series’ season for a second year

For the second consecutive season the Croatia Open launches the Europe Youth Series’ season. The Gradski vrt venue in Osijek gathered 151 players from 18 countries: Austria Azerbaijan Belgium Bosnia and Herzegovina Croatia Czechia Denmark Germany Hungary Ireland Italy Montenegro North Macedonia Poland Romania Serbia Slovakia and Sweden.

The tournament kicked off with the first round of the Group Stage in Mixed Teams events in the Under 13 and Under 15 categories. The Group Stage of Under 15 Boys and Girls Singles is scheduled for Friday with Doubles matches starting soon thereafter. The tournament concludes on Sunday with Under 15 and Under 13 singles and doubles.

Croatia and Czechia were crowned as the first champions at the premiere tournament in the Europe Youth Series in Osijek. In the finals of the Under 15 Mixed Teams event Croatia defeated Belgium while in the Under 13 Mixed Teams event Czechia overcame Azerbaijan. Germany and Slovenia secured bronze medals.

The top seeds in the Under 15 boys singles events are Pavol KOKAVEC of Slovakia Mark GERGELY of Hungary Robert ISTRATE of Romania Lenard SZABO of Hungary Francesco TREVISAN of Italy Zeteny LINDNER and Zsombor FEGYVER of Hungary and Maxime DEGIVE of Belgium.

In the Under 15 girls singles event the top seeds are: Nora DOHOCZKI of Hungary Nina SKERBINZ of Austria Sophie BARCSAI of Hungary Maja VANJO of Serbia Julia DÜR of Austria Lizett FAZEKAS of Hungary Elina FUCHS of Austria and Katarzyna RAJKOWSKA of Poland.
