Portuguese National Championships: MONTEIRO looking for 7th title 

04/03/2010 - This weekend (6th and 7th March) the North of Portugal, Penafiel will be the host for Portuguese National Championships.

In the men’s singles event the top seeds are João MONTEIRO and Tiago APOLONIA.

Tiago APOLONIA is the reigning champion and João MONTEIRO is the most successful player in the last 20 years with 6 titles. That promises very exciting event for the gold medal.

The others players among the top eight seeds are: André SILVA, Énio MENDES, Ricardo OLIVEIRA, Ivo SILVA, Diogo SILVA, Artur SILVA.

In the girls event the reigning champion Huang LEI will not participate. Xie JUAN (3 titles) and Paula GONÇALVES (5 titles) are the most successful player who compete in the singles event.

The Doubles Event will be very interesting because of the possible brothers duel - João MONTEIRO and José MONTEIRO against Tiago APOLONIA and João APOLONIA.
