LIEBHERR Europe Top-12: 17th tournament for PERSSON

28/01/2010 - Sometime after his trip to China where he was filming the commercial and between the frequent travels from Sweden to Norway and reverse, we talked with Jorgen PERSSON about forthcoming LIEBHERR Europe Top-12.

“I just came back from China. We did a commercial for DONIC for Asia’s market. It was good experience and I enjoyed working on it,” said PERSSON.

For 17th time PERSSON is at the list of participants. Swede won the title at the Top-12 in Wien 1992.
“I will be in Düsseldorf, but my expectations are not so high. It will be very difficult for me since I did not practice a lot in recent past,” said PERSSON.

PERSSON admitted that his family has a priority in this moment, and that he had to be fully committed to his children. Both live in Norway so his spending a lot of time there too. “In Düsseldorf Timo BOLL is at home soil and he will be even more dangerous. He is always tough adversary to beat. I am not sure about Vladimir SAMSONOV’s shape. He made a great result by winning the title at the World Cup in October, but since then he was not playing a lot. I am not sure about his current shape,” explained PERSSON.

PERSSON’s Pluderhausen finished the competition in the European Champions League at the position number three after the group stages. The team will continue the Europe competition in the ETTU Cup, but PERSSON will miss the quarterfinal.

“In European Champions league is essential to have a good start. The best example is Castelgoffredo. They made great success. On the other side Pluderhausen were defeated in the opening round against UMMC in full distance match and we put ourselves under great pressure. Our goal was to reach the semifinal of the ECL, but we failed and we are not happy with that,” said PERSSON.

Last year in Düsseldorf Jorgen reached the quarterfinal and he was beaten in the match against Kalinikos KREANGA of Greece.
