Youth Top-10: Lauric JEAN overcame Patrick FRANZISKA

23/01/2010 - Patrick FRANZISKA of Germany suffered first defeat at the Europe Youth Top-10 . Top seed in the Junior Boys Event has been beaten in the match against Lauric JEAN of Belgium seeded number nine. It was Lauric’s second victory in five rounds. “Yesterday I played very well too, but I was little unlucky. I lost two matches against Liam PITCHFORD and Pavel SIRUCEK in seven games. This morning I thought: this is a new day. I played against FRANZISKA as if he is any other player and not number one. I think that lot of players missed their chances because they feel too much respect for him. Tactically my coach gave me good advises and I played perfect until 3:1. In fifth game I was a little nervous, but I managed to finalize the match", Lauric JEAN said.

The winner of the Cadet Boys Event in Rotterdam last year, Simon GAUZY beat all compatriots at the Junior Event in Topolcany this year. Simon is unbeaten at the event after he overcame all three adversaries from his national team. Last on the line was Thomas LE BRETON. Asked did he feel like he is at the French championships, Simon just reminded us: ” Just couple of days before the start of the Event France had five representatives. Quentin ROBINOT was at the list of competitors, but due the injury he was forced to withdraw.”

It is not easy to play against teammates. ‘LE BRETON and I know each other by hart, and it is always 50:50 in duels like this. Even our record speaks the same. Head to head: it was 4:4 each before this match. That is why I am very happy with this victory and that I managed to emerge as a winner in all matches so far.”  Next rival for Simon is Patrick FRANZISKA .‘We played two years ago last time and the score is leveled one each. Everything is possible", French player argued.

Tristan FLORE of France preserved his unbeaten status in fifth round of the Cadet Event and overcame Leonardo MUTTI of Italy in straight games. One place lower is another Frenchman Enzo ANGLES who beat QIU Liang of Germany. Alongside three Frenchmen in best four is Hungarian player Tamas LAKATOS followed by Alexandre ROBINOT. ROBINOT added another seven games duel on his list and beat Marton SZITA of Hungary. LAKATOS overcame Michal PAVOLKA of Slovakia and Michal BANKOSZ of Poland succeeded against Koen HAGERAATS of Netherlands.

Both leading ladies in Junior Girls Event had very hard matches in fifth Round. Dora MADARASZ played against Camelia POSTOACA of Romania and won in six games. “I feel little tired. I had a seven games match in the opening round and POSTOACA surprised me with her tactic in this duel. She did not play defensive as she used,” explained Dora.

Sabine WINTER needed one game more to beat Yana NOSKOVA of Russia. German player recovered from 3 games to two down to win the match. “I know what to expect in this match. I have played against Yana once before and she beat me,” said Sabine.

In Cadet Girls Event Bernadette SZOCS added another victory to her list. In fifth round, it was Katerina TOMANOVSKA of Czech Republic who suffered from SZOCZ lethal strokes. Mateja JEGER of Croatia keeps her pace and she overcame Anna ROSSIKHINA of Russia in the straight games. Irina CIOBANU of Romania overcame Laura PFEFER of France. Celine PANG of France beat Sandra WABIK of Poland and Lucia TRUKSOVA succeeds against Ekaterina GUSEVA.
