Favourites progressed to quarters at Morocco Open Hasan II 

09/07/2009 - Belarus star, Vladimir SAMOSNOV is yet to lose the game in Morocco Open Hasan II, whilst Belgium’s Jean  Michel SAIVE lost one on their way to the quarters. Top seed SAMSONOV beat Mikhail PAYKOV of Russia in Round of 16, whilst SAIVE halted the progress of another Russian’s player Alexander SHIBAEV in five games.

Mohamed EL BEIALI of Egypt continued in the same winning style regardless the ranking difference. After he beat Marc DURAN of Spain the number 10 seed at the tournament yesterday, he overcomes another Spain’s player Alfredo CARNERAS 4:2.  Loic BOBILLIER of France is also safely through after easy win against compatriot Armand PHUNG. Maxim SHMIRYEV had much harder job against Evgeny PETRUKHIN. Russians played all seven games before Maxim succeeded to the quarters.

Men’s Doubles tournament reached penultimate stage. In quarters Stanislav GOLOVANOV of Bulgaria and Maxim SHMYREV of Russia beat Mathias HABESOHN and Christoph SIMONER of Austria. They will play against Alfredo CARNEROS and Marc DURAN of Spain who overcame Mikhail PAYKOV and Alexander SHIBAEV of Russia.

Loic BOBILLIER and Armand PHUNG of France beat Luke ABRAHAMS and Kurt LINGEVELDT (RSA), they will meet Benjamin ROGIERS, and Yannick VOSTES. Belgium’s pairings beat Endika DIEZ and Carlos MACHADO of Spain.
