Tomas POLANSKY of Czech Republic is still unbeaten in the Junior Boys Event at the JOOLA European Top 12 in Prague, but he made a narrow escape today, facing two match balls against himself in the sixth round against Rares SIPOS. Seeded no two, Joe SEYFRIED of France lost two matches in six rounds. After the fourth round victory over Alexandru MANOLE of Romania and Tobias HIPPLER of Germany he is still in game for the title.

“Despite the defeat against Andreas LEVENKO I will give my best to reach the medal rostrum, and even to win the gold. It was hard for me to play against Irvin BERTRAND at the opening, and I also faced tough time against Carlos VEDRIEL of Spain, but I am happy with my shape. I have not space for mistakes, but I can still reach the goal,” said SEYFRIED.

However, his confidence was shaken after thrilling seven gams duel against Rares SIPOS. He lost it and spoiled his chances for gold. Rares SIPOS came to Prague as a fourth reserve and it seamed he needed the time to get into the rhythm.

“Only two days ago I was informed I would play here. I was very happy to get a chance to be in Czech Republic, but my game was not at the top level yesterday. I beat my teammate Alexandru MANOLE, but despite very good match I lost close encounter against Tobias HIPPLER of Germany. It affected by moral and certainly made a great damage to my performance against Cristian PLETEA. I could not find my game. Before I settled properly it was 3:0 for him. I raised my game after that, but it was too late,” said SIPOS.

In the fourth round he beat Aliaksandr KHANIN of Belarus.

“After yesterday’s defeats it was most important thing to find the motivation to come back into the playing arena. I lift my spirit and kept on fighting.”

He preserved good spirit to beat Joe for sure. Latter, SIPOS stretched Tomas POLANSKY, the top seeded player to full distance in the sixth round. POLANSKY even faced two match balls, but survived.

Long days in the venue and lot of matches troubled Andreas LEVENKO. In the opening match of the day, he lost his first match at the tournament against top seeded Tomas POLANSKY of Czech Republic.

“It is hard to find the focus early in the morning. I needed the time to settle into the rhythm, but after that defeat I was back in shape. Carlos VEDRIEL played good but I was not under pressure, “ said LEVENKO.
