In Pool C N. Ireland bet Guyana and lost against India. Scotland prevailed against Uganda in Pool E, whilst Wales beat Papua N. Guinea in Pool G.

The top two rated outfits in the Women’s Team event both made successful starts in their medal quest on the morning of the first day of competition in the Scottish city. Three matches to nil verdicts were the order of the day as Singapore, the no.1 seeds and defending champions, overcame Sri Lanka and Australia, the second seeds, accounted for Guyana.
