Englishman Liam PITCHFORD lost his double`s bronze medal match, playing alongside Paul DRINKHALL, but he will fight for two individual medals on the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Actually, he already secured one, reaching the final in mixed pairs (with HO Tin-Tin), but he`ll fight for his biggest aim in single, when top seeded Singaporean GAO Ning (world`s no. 10) expects him in the semis.

The last European hope in women`s single event, Naomi OWEN from Wales was beaten by Australian LAY Jian Fang in five games. Two top seeds met in the gold medal clash as no. 1 FENG Tainwei overcame YU Mengyu in five sets of all-Singaporean final.

England had its three pairs in mixed doubles semi-final. Liam PITCHFORD and HO Tin-Tin (England) upset the main favorites ZHAN Jian and FENG Tianwei (Singapore) in five games – 3:2 (12:10, 11:8, 11:13, 6:11, 11:5). Paul DRINKHALL with his wife Joanna DRINKHALL defeated Danny REED and Kelley SIBLEY in all-Englend semis – 3:2 (11:5, 8:11, 5:11, 11:8, 11:8).

Men`s single quarter final: GAO Ning (Singapore) – William HENZELL (Australia) 4:1 (15:13, 11:6, 9:11, 11:7, 11:6), Liam PITCHFORD (England) – Soumyajit GHOSH (India) 4:2 (7:11, 11:7, 9:11, 11:7, 12:10, 11:9), Sharath Kamal ACHANTA (India) – Paul DRINKHALL (England) 4:1 (11:7, 11:6, 12:10, 9:11, 11:6), ZHAN Jian (Singapore) – WANG Zhen (Canada) 4:2 (9:11, 1:11, 11:7, 11:8, 11:5, 11:8).
