Naomi OWEN and Stephen JENKINS aiming high


Naomi OWEN and Stephen JENKINS are hoping to return to the Welsh National Championships again in 2014 and do exactly what they planned 12 months prior winning the women’s and men’s singles respectively. For Naomi it was 9 titles, for Stephen, the first. F

Naomi OWEN and Stephen JENKINS are hoping to return to the Welsh National Championships again in 2014 and do exactly what they planned 12 months prior winning the women’s and men’s singles respectively. For Naomi it was 9 titles, for Stephen, the first. For the very first year the Championships have been taken from Cardiff down to West Wales in Carmarthen.

“Charlotte CAREY, who is based in Germany, has recently jumped over Naomi into top seeded spot on the Welsh rankings, after a rise on the ITTF world list. Also waiting for their glory is German based Megan and Angharad Phillips, Swedish Elite league player Chloe THOMAS and Belgian league player Nicole HALL. On the men’s side Conor EDWARDS (seeded 2 and last year’s finalist) Dan O’CONNELL (Germany based), Dean CUNDY and Patrick THOMAS are all hoping for this year to be their year in Carmarthen”, added National Coaching Manager Ryan JENKINS

Conor EDWARDS is hoping get 4 in a row in the junior boy’s category, but from the number 2 seeded position, whilst Charlotte CAREY is hoping for a senior and junior title combination of her own this year (seeded 1 in both events)

Jac JENKINS is seeded 1 in the cadet boy’s event with Lydia John hoping to add the cadet girl’s title to the U13’s she won in 2013

Callum EVANS (15 years old) is number 1 seed in the U21 event, but the 2013 title is owned by Daniel O’CONNELL. The women’s is held by Charlotte CAREY.
Mark FARROW won the Vets Open in 2013 and will hope a second title is added in 2014.
