There is no suspense; Germany will give this year winner of the Men’s ETTU Cup. Only question is will it be Saarbrucken or LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen. On Sunday in Biberach two clubs will play first leg of the final.
LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen beat Walter Wels in semi final. Now they are ready for new challenge. “Everybody come back from Japan on May 9th and day latter we started with our preparation. Players are in good mood, they are not nervous for the moment. Same condition will be for everyone because all of them play in Japan except STEGER” said manager Dubravko SKORIC.
Most valuable player could be RYU Seung Min: “RYU is very important for us, because he knows to play finals”
Saarbrucken will be very hard to beat. “We have chance; even they beat us two times this season. They have small advantage because they have more experience … Now we are one year older than last German Championship final which we lost against Bremen, this can help, and my job is to make players maximum relaxed before the match. It will be nice to bring title in Ochsenhausen but still we need to analyze where and how we can make this young team better and better.”
In semi final of the Men’s ETTU Cup Saarbrucken recovered from 1:3 defeat from the opening leg and with straight matches victory against Stella Sport La Romagne secured the place in the ultimate stage of the competition. Now they will meet LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen. “We are traveling to Ochsenhausen with strong and motivated team. Tiago APOLONIA, Bastian STEGER and Bojan TOKIC will play. Also youngster Marc RODE will be with us. They all worked very well in past few weeks,” stated Nicolas BARROIS, Head of Organizational Bureau.
Not only players, in Ochsenhausen will arrive 50 fans in a bus to give support to their team. “We really look forward to play Ochsenhausen. Chances are 50:50. They have a very strong team. All players are at top level. In the Bundesliga we won both matches but now it is a final and both teams want to win this Cup!”
In the first part of the season Saarbrucken played in the European Champions League. “Our performance in ETTU Cup was good, I think. We had a hard group in European Champions league. So we were happy that we could participate in quarterfinal of ETTU cup. We had four very close and thrilling matches against Bogoria and La Romagne. We are very satisfied with the results. But now our goal is of course to win this cup!”
The competition in Bundesliga is also fierce. “The league is very strong and every team has good players. We started not as we expected but in the end we reached our goal, qualification for European Champions league 2014/2015 and semi finals in German league. Reaching the final in TTBL would of course have been a great achievement but I think it is no shame to lose against a strong team like Fulda.”
