Players finishing in the first two places in each of the four groups advanced to the main draw where they join the top eight seeds.
The member of the Linz AG Froschberg, Iveta VACENOVSKA responded to the support of her fans in her opening match in the 2014 Women’s World Cup to cause the biggest upset of the event today. She beat LI Jiao of the Netherlands, twice the European champion and the highest rated player in the first stage of proceedings in the Upper Austrian town. However Petrissa SOLJA proceeded to the next stage from the position no. two since she beat Dina MESHREF of Egypt.
Georgina POTA, HU Melek and WU Jiaduo have secured first position in their respective groups and thus places in the main draw.
ZHANG Mo, JIAN Fang Lay, Caroline KUMAHARA and Dina MESHREF concluded their journey in Linz.
