This Friday Round 2 of Women`s European Champions League will be held, focused on the clash between two double champion in Group B, Berlin Eastside (2012, 2014) and Linz AG Froschberg (2009, 2013). A lot of good energy will move from Portugal to WECL, knowing that five out of six players involved in final game (Germany – Austria) will lead their teams in main club`s event on the continent: HAN Ying (Zamek), Irene IVANCAN (Fenerbahce), Petrissa SOLJA (Berlin), LIU Jia and Sofia POLCANOVA (both Linz).
Zamek`s coach Zbigniew NECEK believes that the crucial thing for Round 2 could be to recover key player as fast as possible after hard week in Portugal. His club expects no. 1 seed and actual runner-up Fenerbahce in the reprise of 2013/14 WECL semis.
“Our best players – HAN Ying is very tired after European Championships. This title for Germany cost her o lot of energy and we have chance to fight with Fenerbahce if every of our players is in the best shape, so the most important question is how fast she and other my players – LI Qian, STRBIKOVA, PARTYKA can recover after tournament in Portugal. Almost same problem has Fenerbahce but there is one exception and is named WEN Jia. We will do our best but Fenerbahce is a favorite.”
Other game in Group A will be one between Szekszard and 2012 WECL finalist and actual Austrian champion STROCK. Both lost their games in opening round. On one side, the host one, there is a lot of experience (LI Fen is 2013 European individual champion, Petra LOVAS has WECL title with Berlin) while the guest team is the mixture of experience (EKHOLM, BILENKO, DODEAN) and talent (MADARASZ, RAKOVAC)
In Group B Postas will play for its win against Metz. President of Hungarian team Gábor ROSTÁS says that his side depends mostly of the performance of LI Jiao, who has two WECL titles with Dutch club Heerlen.
“Team, as well as before the first match is intended that one or two might get the victory, reaching third place in the group. For us, it is also very important, so that spectators can see a lot of world-class players play. Of course, we do everything to win against the very strong French team Metz, relying primarily LI Jiao of the game.”
