Turkish champion Fenerbahce, no. 1 seed of 2014/15 Women`s European Champions League, was too strong for SVNO STROCK 3:0 in Round 1 of Group A. Both sides presented their new line-ups, playing each with two newcomers.

In opening game WEN Jia defeated Matilda EKHOLM in straight games. Chinese player, the 2013 German Open winner, was faced with very tough task, because guest played very well all the time. Swede missed two set balls in fourth set.

Second clash was the exciting one confronting two good defenders: Irene IVANCAN (2011 European Championships runner-up) and Tetyana BILENKO (one of the biggest upset of 2013 World Championship, reaching Round of 16). IVANCAN, who came to Istanbul from the actual WECL winner Berlin Eastside, won in five games. Both played in series of good and bad moments. Host was better in odd sets, making decisive rush in fifth set taking seven consecutive points (2:3, 9:3).

Romanian Elisabeta SAMARA confirmed Fenerbahce`s victory, beating Dora MADARASZ in four sets. However, young Hungarian will keep good memories from Istanbul, because she was junior runner-up of 2010 European Youth Championships.

Fenerbahce and SVNO STROCK shared the group in the last season too, when the score was 1-1. Each team won at home.
