Austrian’s pairings delighted home crowd with the fantastic performance at the penultimate day of the Championships. In the final of the Men’s Doubles Event at the LIEBHERR European Championships in Schwechat tomorrow will play reigning champions Robert GARDOS and Daniel HABESOHN against TAN Riuwu and WANG Zeng Yi players from Croatia and Poland. In semi final against HE Zhi Wen and Carlos MACHADO of Spain GARDOS and HABESOHN faced a lot of pressure, but they maintain good rhythm and succeeded.
“We had some difficulties in the second game and we lost fifth, but we did not lost the control of the match. We had a great goal before the start of the Event and we achieved it, now I hope we will get further. ” explained HABESOHN.
For the tomorrow’s adversaries, TAN Riuwu and WANG Zeng Yi, Austrian parings had to prepare good tactics. “We had never played against each other before. They have very unusual style,” said GARDOS.
At the penultimate stage TAN Riuwu and WANG Zeng Yi overcame Portugal’s Tiago APOLONIA and Joao MONTEIRO. They dominated from the very beginning of the match and withstood enthusiastic attempt of Portugal’s players to come back after being 2:0 down. APOLONIA and MONTEIRO leveled at 2:2, but then close fifth came proved to be decisive for the winners. TAN and WANG won it at 13:11 and eventually sealed the match successfully.
“I am very tired. I played so many matches in singles and in doubles here,” said TAN Riuwu the silver medalist from Herning last year in singles event.
