French juniors at the 56th European Youth Championships in Ostrava successfully  overcame first hurdle on their way of defending the throne. Mehdi BOULOUSSA, Enzo ANGLES and Alexandre ROBINOT overcame Russia’s Konstantin CHERNV, Sadi ISMAILOV and Kirill SHVETS in straight matches. In the same Group, something that started as an easy match for Croatia ended as big fight. Filip ZELJKO and Tomilav PUCAR prevailed in straight games against Belgium’ s Florent LAMBIET and Martin ALLEGRO, but Arthur BILAS beat Vedran BAKIC to give his team little hope. LAMBIET and PUCAR went full distance, before Croatia’ player brought his team to the victory.

In Group B Slovakia beat Italy. Leonardo MUTTI won both his encounters, but it was not sufficient. Samuel KALUZNI, Patrik VLACUSKA and Alexander VALUCH proved Slovakia has very strong team. And second duel in same group also finished after five matches. Netherland was stretched to full distance before Laurens TROMER, Rajko GOMMERS and Martin KHATCHANOV  prevailed against Hungary. After first match Hungary failed to produce further lead, so Dutch team had constant lead.

In Group D Germany beat Romania in four matches to secure few minutes more of sleep tonight. Kilian ORT, Marc RODE and Florian SCHREINER overcame Romania. Alin SPELBUS was in charge for only point for his side, but Daniel DAN was also close to bring his team to the decisive match. Czech Republic overcame Serbia. Valentin NADJNEMEDI and Ivor KATIC could not find the game for inspired David REITSPIES. Jakub SEIBERT lost his match against Valentin, but in decisive one against KATIC he was superb
