DE NUTTE and NI Xia Lian in Doubles’ quarters

In the first Round of the Women’s Singles Event top seeds saved some energy by progressing to the next stage without losing the game. SHEN Yanfei of Spain at the top of the list overcame Maryia KUCHUK of Belraus, whilst European champion Viktoria PAVLOVICH beat Camelia POSTOACA of Romania. Georgina POTA of Hungary, player with 10 medals from the European championships, concluded her journey in singles faster then her rankings predicted. Player who required qualifications FU Yu of Portugal beat her in seven games thriller.

Former European champion Ruta PASKAUSKIENE of Lithuania progressed to the round of 32, after she overcame NI Xia Lian of Luxembourg.

In the Round of 32 SHEN beat Szandra PERGEL of Hungary and for the place in the quarters she will meet Bernadette SZOCS of Romania. Young Bernadette beat European Champion from Stuttgart WU Jiaduo of Germany. LI Fen of Sweden was also in charge fir upset. She overcame another former champion LIU Jia of Netherlands. FU Yu continued her successful run and beat Yana NOSKOVA of Russia.

In the Women’s Doubles Round of 32 Sarah DE NUTTE and NI Xia Lian overcame last year’s bronze medalists Britt EERLAND of Netherlands and Dora MADARASZ of Hungary. “I am very proud of this success. It is good that I have Ni by my side. Her experience is very important for me,” said Sarah De NUTTE.

However, in next round, even biggest shock rearranged the order in the Event. Reigning champions Elizabeta SAMARA and Daniela DODEAN faced early exit. Sara RAMIREZ and SHEN Yanfei of Spain booked their place in the quarterfinal. DE NUTTE and NI Xia Lian joined them after beating PESOTSKA and PASKAUSKIENE.

No. two seeds Kristin SILBERESEN and WU Jiado are also out. Galia DVORAK of Spain and Matilda EKHOLM of Sweden replaced them at the bottom of the draw. Cristina HIRICI and Bernadette SZOCS of Romania are also in the quarters. Petrissa SOLJA and Sabine WINTER of germany overcame Sofia  POLCANOVA and Amelie SOLJA of Austria.
