Theme of the currently running ETTU Coaches Conference in Cardiff (Wales), at the Wales National Sports Centre is: “What coaching style are you?”

Conference started last night with a very interesting 3h talk by Andy MCCANN, an award winning physical education teacher and advisor and coach to high performance athletes in the UK.

For the first time an ETTU conference dedicates time for para table tennis with speaker Neil ROBINSON (GB Paralympics coach) speaking on how to work closely with disabled squads and as a coach why it is important in today’s society to be competent in coaching athletes with a disability.

Paul HUGHES, Table Tennis Wales psychologist, explores what coaches need to implement and how to get the best from their teams/squads and their programs.

Final sessions (theory and practice) by LIU YanJun from Austria on technical advances in the game with discussion on new shots, tactic and techniques emerging in today’s world game and how coaches from Europe are implementing these exciting changes.

MULTI-BALL training research done at the University of Thrace (Greece) will be presented in the final session by Michail KATSIKADELIS from Greece.

Ryan JENKINS said : “It was important to show that a small association like Wales, could organize and invite Europe to our Capital Cardiff . This kind of meeting with the coaches is very important for us and the ETTU should think of hosting more regional conferences”.
